“The gospel is this: We are more sinful and flawed in ourselves than we ever dared believe, yet at the very same time we are more loved and accepted in Jesus Christ than we ever dared hope.”
If it’s not good news, it’s not the gospel. If we only tell you what to do, that’s actually bad news. Because mankind is sinful by nature, we can’t help but sin! But the good news is this: while we were still actively working against God and his creation, Christ died for us.
That's right. Come as you are. Not who you pretend to be. Christ came into this world to save sinners. You're in good company.
The good news will not leave you in the pigsty. The Gospel promises life out of death. A Tree that has been given life will produce leaves, flowers, and fruit. Though this change can be as slow as watching grass grow, there is still hope to be remade new.
Lord Jesus, for too long I’ve kept you out of my life. I know that I am a sinner and that I cannot save myself. No longer will I close the door when I hear you knocking. By faith I gratefully receive your gift of salvation. I am ready to trust you as my Lord and Savior. I believe you are the Son of God who died on the cross for my sins and rose from the dead on the third day. Thank you for paying for my sins and giving me the gift of eternal life. I believe your words are true. I now resolve and promise, in humble reliance upon the grace of the Holy Spirit, that I will live out this reality.
Share this good news with us! We can’t have God as our Father without the Church as our mother. Join the church. Talk to someone. We can’t do this alone. We’re made to be in community with one another.
This good news is FOR YOU. And for those around you. The gospel is personal, but it's also communal (for those around you), and Cosmic for your city! God is redeeming and restoring ALL THINGS to Himself!
